Buying and Management of Private Reserves

Between 1997 and 2002, CLT acquired diverse businesses and ranches inside of the Provincial Reserve of Iberá. CLT currently owns and administers 150,000 hectacres of land adjacent to the fiscal lands that were declared a provincial park by the Correntine government in 2009.

These lands are already managed as if they were part of a National Park. Within these lands, CLT has hired a team of park rangers, has removed internal fences to restore natural beauty and ecological continuity, has suspended cattle ranching and slash burning, has worked on eliminating invasive and non-native species, and has put permanent controls on hunting and poaching. Similarly, CLT is attempting to completely understand the best way to manage wildlife using specific preservation practices. Adjusting the care of unique ecosystems is crucial for the prevalence and abundancy of indigenous species and so that the natural landscapes can recover from previous damage.

The CLT employees responsible for the care and management of these reseves and parks are distributed on four operating bases located in the parks of Rincón del Socorro, San Nicolás, Cambyretá and on loaned installations in El Tránsito Ranch (next to Park Carambola where the next base will be located). Additionally, there are permanent CLT installations in the parks of Guayaiví, San Alonso, and Plumero.
